Your Local Car began right here in Elstead in 1996! When local residents Janet and Alan White tried to get a taxi from Elstead Village Hall, they found it difficult to find a company that would be able to take them at short notice.
As a result, they realised the need for a reliable taxi service for their local community of Elstead and surrounding areas. So, they started their own taxi firm, Mytchett Cars.
When Janet and Alan decided it was time to retire in 2011, they passed on the company to their son Peter, who rebranded it as Your Local Car Elstead.
The rest is history.
From just one car, Peter has grown the fleet to 50+ drivers with their own clean, comfortable cars. He has also invested in a company fleet of nine zero emissions all-electric SUV taxis and exec vans.
That’s why Your Local Car Elstead can now take you further, more often, in style and comfort!
In 2023, Your Local Car’s 50+ drivers made over 53,000 passenger journeys, from local hops down to the Little Barn Cafe for coffee, a ride home after a family gathering at the Woolpack, to a round of golf at Hankley Common Golf Club. Plus, of course, those early morning airport transfers to Heathrow and Gatwick!

Our friendly, local drivers know the area really well, including all the back routes to avoid the traffic other taxi companies get snagged up in!
All drivers are fully qualified, CRB checked and also licensed by Surrey Heath Borough Council. They are happy to help with luggage, and all have ‘tap and go’ in-vehicles payment terminals for quick and easy cashless payment.
