Do you accept credit or debit cards?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay. All our drivers have portable card readers in their vehicles, so you can simply tap and pay at the end of your journey.

How can I book an electric taxi?
Our all-electric taxis are very popular, so you do need to pre-book one. Simply ask to go electric when you call us to book, or click the option in the app.
We do charge a slightly higher rate for booking one of our 9 electric VW SUVs or Mercedes eVito executive vans, as they are reserved specifically for your zero tailpipe carbon emissions journey.

Can I save money when I book via the app?
You certainly can! When you book online or via the app, you’ll save 5% over the regular cost of calling us and booking over the phone. That’s a 5% discount EVERY time you use the app, so the savings can really add up!
You can also pay via the app with a pre-approved payment method, including Apple Pay if you wish, so there’s no need for cash or even cards for your taxi ride.
And remember our YLC booking app is free to download and use.
Who are your drivers?
Our friendly, helpful drivers are all local people who have chosen to drive for Your Local Car. They are interviewed and vetted by us and have access to our pool of company all-electric vehicles. They also drive their own clean, comfortable vehicles.
All YLC drivers hold a full driving licence from the UK or EU, plus a PHV (private hire vehicle licence). When drivers apply for a PHV licence, they undergo checks by the local authority to ensure they are a ‘fit and proper person’. Their background and character will be checked, and they also undergo an enhanced criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) by us.
Our drivers like driving for Your Local Car Elstead as they can work the hours that suit them around family and other life commitments.

Is a taxi transfer cheaper than parking at the airport?
A private taxi transfer can be cheaper than terminal parking at both Heathrow and Gatwick flights for Elstead residents.

What happens if my flight back is delayed?
Our fleet controllers here at YL monitor the BAA (British Airport Authority) website for any flight time changes. If your flight is delayed, we will make the necessary adjustments to your collection time. Please note that any flight cancellations or flight number changes will need to be notified by yourselves to our offices.
Do you provide child seats?
Please let us know in advance the size of child seat you require, as not all sizes may be available at all times. We are more than happy for you to provide your own seats, and we can also provide booster seats on request.
Can you accommodate six passengers?
Yes! Our executive minivans are ideal for a group of up to eight people to travel in comfort and style. You can book one of our all-electric Mercedes eVito vans too, so you can enjoy a smooth, spacious ride with zero tailpipe carbon emissions.
Corporate clients love our discreet spacious vans, which are also great good value for larger families or couples with lots of luggage travelling to an airport or a seaport terminal for a cruise.
